This multi-part, self-organized campaign consists of the following stories, all pre-made:
- Dead Man Stomp (5e Rulebook): Introduction/Prequel
- The Madman (5e Rulebook): Sidequest to gain some Cthulhu Mythos/Mythos experience; this is the one with the Mi-go summoning Ithaqua. It can be skipped.
- The Spawn (The Great Old Ones): The first real bit to the campaign, tying Yig and its actions into the story extensively.
- Still Waters (The Great Old Ones): Because actual chance to finally sort of use Cthulhu and a possible vision of the Big C himself? Oh Hell to the fucking yes.
- Tell Me, Have You Seen the Yellow Sign? (The Great Old Ones): Because True Detective is my jam and Hastur is bae. I... might have a slight Yellow Mythos addiction. Maybe. Somewhat.
- Escape from Innsmouth (Escape From Innsmouth): Can be skipped for the below.
- Amidst the Ancient Trees (7e Rulebook): Can be skipped for the above.
- Tatterdemalion (Fatal Experiments, but I have it standalone too): Sidequest. This one can bridge the gap between the other two, in case people want to do everything. It's also baked into the ending of "Yellow Sign" just in case they do go to Mr. Fowler's party...
- The Plantation (Mansions of Madness): The Grande Finale, in which everything wraps up and Yig's hand (er, coils?) in everything come to fruition.
So, we have a God guiding events and maybe even planning something to a point, a bunch of cultists, horrible cult rituals, extensive travel, branching pathways, and a lot of assorted horrors in between. Gee, now what epic CoC campaign does that remind you of...? There will be action, there will be adventure, and oh, there will be madness and bloodshed. An excellent means of self-preparation, I think.
Preparing for what, you might ask? Well, for large groups for starters - I have six players, larger than any other group I have run with before. For pre-published campaigns, for another - I've never done something this extensive or HUGE before and it's my first time using SOLELY pre-made campaigns, not my own. But mostly, it's to get myself used to a massive travel campaign. A very specific campaign. A rather... chaotic one, you might say, involving a certain lost expedition and a certain reporter, one Jackson Elias by name...
Oh yes, it's happening. My dream and nightmare as a newish Keeper is happening. The Masks of Nyarlathotep are coming soon. Very, very soon... And no Investigator in my game will be safe.
